Venue Hire

The foundation stone of the Edinburgh Academy’s oldest building was laid in 1823. Our spaces have grown with the school community and we now have two sites, one at Henderson Row in the heart of New Town, and one at Arboretum Road, between the Botanic Gardens and Inverleith Park. Our Henderson Row site has nine indoor spaces for hire, plus three outside spaces, and our Arboretum Road site has three main indoor spaces for hire, plus a Sports Hub and extensive playing fields and greens. We have a variety of spaces to suit any event, budget or occasion - the choice is yours!

The Main Hall

Our flagship event space, built in 1823. An oval plan hall with high ceilings studded with gold rosettes, clerestory lantern windows and a mahogany encased organ centre stage, this is ideal for grand dinners, lavish weddings and elaborate award events.

The Dining Hall

The Dining Hall, built in the early 1900s, is a large open space lit by high windows and bound by a raised stage at one end. Its finishing kitchen makes it particularly suitable for any catered events, from lavish dinner occasions to wedding receptions.

James Clerk Maxwell Science Centre

A contemporary sandstone, glass and zinc building with a double-height foyer. Pale walls, lofty dimensions and a wall-length aquarium make this a cool, light-filled, welcoming space ideal for drinks receptions and evening gatherings.

Magnusson Centre

A modern, purpose-built performing space with fully retractable seating, the Magnusson Centre also echos period features from the rest of the site, with high ceilings and window-lined walls flooding the space with light.

Henderson Row Grounds

The Henderson Row site benefits from three unique outdoor spaces. We have two secret gardens tucked behind the Main Hall and a former parade ground at the very front of the site.

New Field

New Field sits between our Playing Fields and the Botanic Gardens and offers uninterrupted views of Edinburgh Castle. Its location and the exceptionally high standard of care taken in its maintenance make it an atmospheric and spectacular setting for any event.

How do I confirm a booking?
Just let us know you want to go ahead and that’s you confirmed. We’ll then give you a contract to sign which we’ll need back within two weeks. We’ll also need a deposit from you to secure the booking, then you’re good to go!

Can I provisionally book a date for a venue at AccessEA?
Yes, that’s no problem. We’re always happy to provisionally hold space at the venue while you make decisions. Generally this will be for a week or two, but we might be able to stretch to longer, it depends on what you need. Just talk to one of the team and we can negotiate!
