Our Team

The Academy has been letting venues and sports facilities to the public on an ad-hoc basis for years, but in 2019 decided to create a branch of the Edinburgh Academy dedicated entirely to sharing its spaces, learning and facilities with the community and so AccessEA was born.

The AccessEA team are all seasoned event and marketing professionals who combine an appreciation for the history and significance of the Academy with commercial know-how. Based at the Henderson Row site, they are a small but perfectly formed team who together can plan, deliver and add finesse to any event, organise venue hire and help out with sports bookings.

James Williams

School & Holiday Camp Manager

James looks after the After School Club and all the fun in the holidays! With a BSc in Sports Science and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education he is our very own PE Teacher. With lots of ideas about how to coach and inspire the children, watch this space to what new clubs start to appear.

Marcin Iwanowski

Duty Operations Officer

If Marcin isn’t putting children or grown-ups through their paces in a coaching session, you can find him behind the reception desk in the Sports Centre. He also helps out with holiday camps and with the after-school club. He came to the Academy as part of his HNC Coaching and Developing Sport Course at Edinburgh College, initially to deliver coaching, and then on a permanent basis. Since being with us he’s added climbing and kettlebell instructor qualifications to his coaching experience. If he has any spare time he spends it playing basketball.
