Our Team

The Academy has been letting venues and sports facilities to the public on an ad-hoc basis for years, but in 2019 decided to create a branch of the Edinburgh Academy dedicated entirely to sharing its spaces, learning and facilities with the community and so AccessEA was born.

The AccessEA team are all seasoned event and marketing professionals who combine an appreciation for the history and significance of the Academy with commercial know-how. Based at the Henderson Row site, they are a small but perfectly formed team who together can plan, deliver and add finesse to any event, organise venue hire and help out with sports bookings.

Linzi Purves

Commercial Director

Linzi is the driving force behind the development of the events and venue side of AccessEA. She came to the Academy from The Open Championship, where she managed the tournament end-to-end on behalf of The Royal & Ancient Golf Club, including the planning and management of all on-site services. She’s now looking forward to continuing her career by developing the Academy as an outstanding event and venue space. Linzi is excited about the development of the Academy as a world-class venues and events destination, incorporating amazing greenfield sites for outdoor events and sports pursuits as well as high-end indoor venues and facilities to attract a diverse range of clients

Victoria Cameron

Design & Marketing

Victoria is responsible for the AccessEA brand and for all things design, putting her Honours Degree in Graphic Design to good use. She is also the voice of AccessEA, taking charge of all social media output. She joined the AccessEA team as a freelancer after various agency and client roles and fell in love with campus life, making it her permanent home just over two years ago. She is particularly fond of all the outdoor spaces in Henderson Row and Arboretum Road.

Andy Utterson

Sports Centre Manager

Andy combines running the Sports Centre with coaching children and adults in any and every sport. He’s been with us since college (way back in 2005), starting on a work placement, running summer camps and then as a full time Youth Sports Development Officer. In 2009 he became our main man at the Sports Centre. He’s also found time to qualify as both a spin class and climbing instructor, and squeeze in the odd round of golf.

Jessica Westcough

Coach & Duty Manager

Jess is the Sports Centre Duty Manager and started with us in May 2018. She spends much of her day coaching people, running fitness classes and personal training for the grown-ups during the day, then training children in the after-school club later on. She’s also in charge of the School holiday club for the littles (children under six). Jess is an experienced sports coach, gym instructor, level 1 climbing instructor and a trained sports masseuse.

Marcin Iwanowski

Coach & Leisure Attendant

If Marcin isn’t putting children or grown-ups through their paces in a coaching session, you can find him behind the reception desk in the Sports Centre. He also helps out with holiday camps and with the after-school club. He came to the Academy as part of his HNC Coaching and Developing Sport Course at Edinburgh College, initially to deliver coaching, and then on a permanent basis. Since being with us he’s added climbing and kettlebell instructor qualifications to his coaching experience. If he has any spare time he spends it playing basketball.
